He begins, "As the Dinner Table is the most loved and gracious symbol of the Christmas festival, it seems fitting at this time to offer grateful salutations to those who browned the turkey and who baked the pies, - to mothers, sisters, aunts and wives; to all the home cooks in general; and in particular to those great Master Chefs whose art it is to nourish us and please our palates."
