(Boston) The Somerset Club Cook Book.

Printed in red & black, with pictorial endpapers. Embossed blue cloth, gilt-lettered spine. 1 of 3,000 copies printed by the Stinehour Press in Lunenburg, VT. First Edition. [Boston]: Somerset Club, [1963].

The Somerset Club is a private social club on Beacon Hill in Boston, Massachusetts, founded possibly as early as 1826. It is a center of New England's traditional elite. According to Boston Magazine, "The stone wall with security detail out front underscores this club’s rep as the snootiest of the bunch. When a fire broke out in the kitchen in the 1940s, firemen had to enter through the servants’ entrance to avoid disrupting the ladies and gents lunching in the dining room." Exclusive recipes include halibut mousse in cardinal sauce, eggs petit duc, Somerset coquilles, etc. Fine.
