Child, Julia, Simone Beck & Louisette Bertholle. Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Volume One.

Illus. with drawings by Sidonie Coryn. Cloth, jacket. Ninth Printing. NY: Knopf, 1965.

SIGNED by Julia Child in black ink on the title page. This is Child's seminal work, which introduced many Americans to French cooking for the first time. Edited by legendary cookbook editor Judith Jones and first published in 1961, the book launched Child's career as a cookbook author and television star. Foxing to fore-edges, various closed tears to jacket, some soiling to jacket and chipping to jacket corners, binding slightly shaken from kitchen use, else good. One sees many copies of this book with bookplates signed by Child, but not many signed by her directly on the title page.
