(Children's) Benton, Caroline French.  A Little Book for a Little Girl.

Pictorial white boards. First Edition. Boston: Dana Estes, [1905].

A charming book of recipes by Benton, who wrote another book on feasts and fetes for adults. Recipes are mainly classic American, and include griddle-cakes, lemon pudding, brown betty, cream of clams, pigs in blankets, etc. Recipe instructions are wonderful, and written for a young reader. For creamed lobster, "Cut the meat in pieces as large as the end of your finger, and heat it in the sauce till it steams...Stand a little claw up in each dish." Mild rubbing to extremities, flaking away the white on the boards; occasional light pencil marks, else very good.
