(Cocktails) Roe, Charles & Jim Schwenck. The Home Bartender's Guide and Song Book.

96 pp. Illus. by Bob Dean. Songs collected & edited by Sigmund Spaeth. Large format, cloth-backed pictorial boards. First Edition. NY: Experimenter Press, 1930.

First edition of this prohibition-era book featuring over 200 mixed drink recipes and many pub songs, together with numerous sarcastic illustrations, in colorful original pictorial boards. Published three years before the end of Prohibition, this 1930 home bartender's guide features hundreds of mixed drink recipes (each accompanied by witty and entertaining commentary), lyrics to drinking songs, and numerous comical illustrations by Bob Dean. This is a fantastic book! Songs in italics refer to drunkards, loose women, and of course, powerful cocktails. Mild chipping to spine ends and minor soiling to covers, otherwise a very good and bright copy of this scarce first edition.
