(Liquor, etc.) Drs. Winckler, Elsner, Heintze, Mierzinski, Jacobsen, Koller, & Heinzerling. The Techno-Chemical Receipt Book.

Full title:  The Techno-Chemical Receipt Book: containing several thousand receipts, covering the latest, most important and most useful discoveries in chemical technology, and their practical application in the Arts and the Industries. Additions by William T. Brannt & William Wahl. Trans. from the German. Illus. with 78 wood engravings. Gilt-lettered pictorial red cloth. First American Edition. Philadelphia & London: Henry Carey Baird & Sampson Low et al., 1890.

First published in Germany in 1886, this charming manual contains 495 pages of text about every chemical and chemical reaction know to man by the end of the 19th century. It contains a chapter on liquor and beverages, bitters and cordials, cocoa and chocolate, brewing, preserving foods, mustards, food and food preparations, etc. While these are all great, I'm all in in on the chapter on how to wash, restore, and dye ostrich and marabout feathers. Sunning to spine, small spot to lower front cover, else very good and bright.
