(*NEW ARRIVAL*) (California - Santa Rosa) Suzanne Tracy. Practical Cook Book.

80 + [2] ad pp. Original gilt-lettered olive cloth. First Edition. San Francisco: Payot, Stratford & Kerr, 1908.

Miss Suzanne Tracy was a cooking instructor and lecturer, who spoke to audiences in Fresno, San Jose and Sacramento, before opening a school in Santa Rosa in 1909. That year, the Santa Rosa Press Democrat wrote, "Miss Tracy is a lady of charming personality. She thoroughly understands her work and enters into it with enthusiasm. Every afternoon this week she will lecture, taking various subjects each day, so as to give the housekeepers of Santa Rosa a good opportunity to secure valuable pointers on cooking." This cookbook's owner, Selma Olinder, was a teacher herself, and now has an elementary school in San Jose named after her. She has added several manuscript recipes to the blank pages in rear, as well as two recipe clippings and her signature to front free endpaper. A couple unobtrusive spots to front cover, otherwise very good. Scarce.
