(Charity) May Fiske Hoffman, ed. Florence Crittenton League of Compassion Cook Book: Favorite Recipes of Celebrated People.

$75.00

Metal ring-bound pictorial cloth. First Edition. Boston: Florence Crittenton League of Compassion, 1931.

The Florence Crittenton League of Compassion was a maternity home and hospital for unwed mothers in Boston. Pregnant residents would stay for 4-5 months and learn housekeeping, cooking, and maternal care during their stay; they received medical care up to birth. This book of recipes is tabbed by section, and features contributors such as Mrs. Herbert Hoover, Marshall Field, and numerous women associated with the organization. The binder rings allow the book to lie flat, as well as for recipes to be added. Occasional internal browning, else very good and bright.
