(Southern - Kentucky) Manuscript cookbook

with 54 pages of recipes written in a neat hand, in ink. 6.75x4", original flexible boards (this was meant to be used as an account book). [Frankfort, KY: c.1880's-90's].

Numerous manuscript recipes in a clean hand, including some local favorites like pecan cake, pecan pudding, homemade wine, corn fritters, jambalaya, waffles, several pickle variations, beaten biscuits, World's Fair bread, etc. The bread recipe likely refers to the Southern Exposition, which was a five-year series of world's fairs held in the city of Louisville, Kentucky, from 1883 to 1887. Rubbing along spine; darkening to first page (beefsteak recipe), otherwise very good.
