(Southern - Tennessee) Nashville Housewives. Things Good and Wholesome, done into Excellent Formulas.

Compiled by Mrs. Robert W. Nichol. Art chaired by Mrs. Frank Avent. 74 pp. Illus. with vignettes. Pictorial wrappers. First Edition. Nashville: [James T. Camp], 1906.

Published to benefit the Tennessee State Fair, held in Nashville Oct. 8-13, 1906. Both Mrs. Nichol and Mrs. Avent were active in art and social circles in Nashville in the early 20th century. Elegantly printed on thick tan paper, with recipes for President Jackson's favorite dish (calf's foot jelly), peppermint ice cream, South Carolina chicken, peach cordial and brandied peaches, Virginia mixed pickle, heyden relish, mint sherbet, etc. Wrappers in poor condition, with heavy chipping, possible burn marks, old sticker to front cover, etc.; title page stained & chipped, and one page in rear detached, but otherwise interior is very good. An important historical record. Cook p.244 (listing this and a 1907 edition).
