SIGNED by Wood on the front free endpaper. A great cookbook of unusual seafood recipes from the restaurants on San Francisco's famed Fisherman's Wharf. Recipes include cream of crab soup, wine broiled oysters, Alioto's special shellfish bouillabaisse, bouillabase a la Di Maggio, cioppino Tarantino, etc. Excellent anecdotes about the Wharf scene in the 1950's throughout, like this one: Elizabeth Dunning adapted a Cornish potted shrimp recipe when she arrived in San Francisco from London, using tiny Bay Shrimp available here, and called it Shrimp Savoy. "Louis Crillo, who operates one of the finest Italian delicatessens I have ever been in, at 3517 California Street in San Francisco, fell in love with Shrimp Savoy, and finally arranged with Mrs. Dunning for the exclusive sale in San Francisco of "Shrimp Savoy." Chipping to jacket extremities, small piece lacking from lower front panel, else very good.
