(*NEW ARRIVAL*) (Cocktails) Louis Muckenstrum. Louis' Mixed Drinks with Hints for the Care & Serving of Wines
Illus. with frontis. portrait of the author, title page drawing, and vignettes throughout. 10.25x5", gilt-tooled pictorial red cloth. First Edition. Boston: H.M. Caldwell, [1906].
A stunning cocktail book from the turn-of-the-last-century, with instructions for proper glassware, definitions for types of drinks, and hints on wine service. Notes on the quality of wine, port and sherry vintages from the early 1880's through 1906 are aldo listed. Chapters are divided by types of cocktail (punches, fizzes, highball, etc.), with recipes for making everything from a Barnyard cocktail to a Zaza. One or two period manuscript cocktail recipes are laid-in loose.
Minor rubbing to spine ends and corners, as well as minor scattered foxing to interior pages, otherwise near fine - the loveliest copy I've ever come across.
