(Menu - Haiti) Incres Line Cruises. M/S "Victoria" Dinner.

2 pp. Cover art by Wilson Bigaud. 10.25x7". N.p.: Nov. 17, 1963.

Painting (7.5x6.5") by Haitian artist Wilson Bigaud is titled "Combat de Coqs" and depicts a cockfight, with women holding and carrying food nearby. This artwork was presented by the Galerie du Centre d'Art in Port au Prince, Haiti, and is one of a series of menu covers by Haitian artists done for Incres Cruise Lines. According to the bio of Bigaud on verso, "Bigaud was born in Port-au-Prince in 1931...he was 'discovered' by Hector Hyppolite and was presented to the Centre d'Art by him in 1946. Bigaud, from a poor and unprivileged background with little formal education, is among the great natural talents produced by Haiti. His massive mural 'The Wedding Feast of Cana' in the Episcopal Cathedral is perhaps the most generally admired of all those great wall paintings." Near fine.
