(California – Los Angeles) California Women. Los Angeles Times Cook Book No. 2: One Thousand Toothsome Cooking and Other Recipes including Seventy-Nine Old-Time California, Spanish and Mexican Dishes, Recipes of Famous Pioneer Settlers.
$200.00
/
105 pp. White cloth lettered & dec. in black. First Edition, Second Issue (with price of 35 cents to front cover). Los Angeles: Times-Mirror, 1905.
The second in the series of L.A. Times cookbooks, comprised of prize recipes from their yearly contest. The California-Mexican recipes are what make this book valuable, as they are early renditions of a number of recipes: Enchiladas Arizona Style, chiles rellenos, Spanish sweet potato pone, eggs a la Mme. Murrillo, alligator pear salad, etc. Faint sports or soiling to extremities of cloth, white laquer lightly chipping along front hinge & spine ends; offset to front endpapers, else a very good copy.
