(*NEW ARRIVAL*) (American) The American Cook Book: On Thousand Selected Recipes...
by the Readers of the New York Journal, the Chicago American, the San Francisco Examiner.
Illus. with frontis. photograph and silhouette drawings throughout. Pictorial brown cloth lettered in red, top edges gilt. First Edition. NY: William Randolph Hearst, 1901.
A lovely book of American recipes contributed by readers of three Hearst newspapers (with their names signed to each recipe), in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York. Illustrated headers charmingly present regional American recipes like Philippine pepper pot (the Philippines was then part of America), Long Island clam pie, Rhode Island home clambake, lobster in shells, Mexican rice, blueberry fritters, Southern pineapple cream pie, etc.
White in cover design mostly rubbed off; conservator's tape to inner joints, else very good. Scarce.
