Postcard of Kate Douglas Wiggin's summer home in Quillcote mounted to front pastedown. The editor, Kate Douglas Wiggin, was a well-known children's book author (best known for Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm), and this is her only cookbook. Dorcas Societies were formed by groups of women, usually through their church, in order to contribute to the needy. Dorcas Society of Hollis and Buxton in Maine (founded in 1897) remains active today, shifting its focus toward providing community events, local scholarships, and charitable contributions. This was their first community cookbook.
