The Joseph Burnett Company harvested and cured their vanilla in Mexico, so the history herein pinpoints the vanilla plant and bean there; they were the first chemists in America to make vanilla extract, in 1850. Advice at rear for the grocer and housewife on avoiding imitation vanilla.

Condition is just fair and could improve with repair: spine boards lacking; first few pages detached, still bright and elegant - rare.
