(*NEW ARRIVAL*) (African American) Gene Hovis. Gene Hovis's Uptown Down Home Cookbook (Gene Hovis & Sylvia Rosenthal
$45.00
/
Jacket. Boston: Little, Brown, [1987].
In a similar trajectory to the great Southern chef Edna Lewis, Gene Hovis was born in North Carolina and learned to cook Southern food; when he moved to New York City to try a career on the stage, he expanded his repertoire to finer haute cuisine. Craig Claiborne described him as "one of the finest hosts of New York."
Chipping and creasing to upper jacket extremities, small stain to jacket spine foot, otherwise very good.
