From Hands that Feed: Local Communities Building the Digital Future (Karya)

$45.00

The book grew out of Karya’s Indigenous Recipe Project, where contributors across ten endangered Eastern Indic languages documented traditional recipes from their communities. What began as a dataset evolved into something larger: a cultural archive of food, memory, landscape, and language.

But we felt this knowledge shouldn’t live only inside datasets and research papers. So we turned it into a book. From Hands that Feed celebrates the communities who contributed to the project and preserves culinary traditions that are rarely documented in the digital world. The book invites readers into kitchens, languages, and landscapes that AI - and often publishing - rarely sees. Most excitingly, all profits from the sale of the book go back to our communities :)
