While the church looks austere, its mission is surprisingly liberal. From its website: “ The UCC has been a pioneering community on social issues from its inception.  The UCC was the first denomination to ordain women, African Americans and openly Gay and Lesbian clergy. Now we are working on becoming the first denomination to fully divest from fossil fuels.” Recipes herein include Indian loaf, chili, smothered chicken, etc. Inscribed by one of the contributors on the front free endpaper, dated 1914. Some waviness to pages, else very good; scarce.
