(Delaware) Mrs. J.A. The Home Receipt Book, comprising a Choice Selection from the Experience of Many Years.
Edited by M.K.A. 50 pp. Gilt-lettered green cloth. First Edition. Wilmington, DE: James & Webb, 1871.
"Compliments of" elegantly written in ink above "Edited by M.K.A." Several contemporaneous manuscript recipes in a neat hand to blank pages in rear, for brandy peaches, cucumber catsup, pickled cucumbers, and sweet pickle peaches. A note in front of book identifies the author of these as their mother, Nan. S. Kent, whose signature also appears at front, dated 1872. Printed recipes include halibut steaks, calves' head soup, baked bass, stewed lobster, rye and brown bread, soft molasses gingerbread, dough nuts, etc. Numerous numbered pages are blank, for the owner to write their own recipes. Stains to covers, small nick to spine, rubbing to lower rear corner, else very good. Scarce.
