(*NEW ARRIVAL*) (German - Restaurants) Kochkunst: Illustrirte Halbmonatschrift für Hotel-, Restaurant-, Herrschats-, und Bürgerliche Küche

$150.00

Illus. 10.5x7.25", gilt-lettered dec. green cloth. First Edition. Frankfurt am Main: Internationaler Verband der Koche, 1900.

In German. An illustrated semi-monthly magazine for hotels, restaurants, aristocratic and bourgeois cuisine, all bound together for the year 1900 in this volume. Sample menus are reprinted, along with seasonal recipes for aristocratic dishes like Russian blinis with caviar, aspic de foie gras en belle-vue, etc. Photographs include a canning company, a regular column titled "Die Pudding-Kuche" covers desserts, and fancy plates dishes, both sweet and savory, are illustrated throughout. Art Nouveau typographic styling rounds out the delightfulness. An fabulously decadent book published just before the Great War ruined everything.

Chipping to spine ends, rubbing to corners and extremities, still very good.
