178 pp. Illus. throughout with photographs and ads for local businesses. Folio, 13.25x9", blue cloth, pictorial cover label. First Edition. Honolulu: Hawaii Promotion Committee, [1915].
Produced by the Hawaii Promotion Committee, this book was distributed at their booth during the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. Showcased are the wide gamut of plantations and food-focused farms and businesses across the islands: sugar cane, peanuts, pineapples, mangoes, cacao, breadfruit, avocadoes, etc. There are also articles from island newspapers about happenings across the territory, including information about the public school system, the blend of cultures populating Hawaii, school farming, railroads, etc.
Dampstaining and slight bowing to covers from years in the tropics, otherwise good - a remarkable snapshot of Hawaii in 1915, 44 years before statehood.
