Historical context and essays accompany facsimiles of three editions of the first Turkish cookbook, written in Ottoman Turkish text 1844. Included as well is the 1864 English translation edition (titled A Manual of Turkish Cookery) translated by Turabi Efendi, and an undated Persian translation titled Cook's Shelter.

Sunset Magazine food editor Margo True's copy, with her name to upper front free endpaper. Rubbing and some chipping to jacket extremities, else very good - a weighty and important tome.
