$400.00
/
Illus. with color plates. Pictorial orange and black cloth. First Edition. London: Maclaren, c.1890-1900.
An absolutely charming book of English recipes, with color plates showing meats of varying quality, dainty cakes, and other elaborate dishes. An ad for Victorian-era cooking apparatus is on rear pastedown. And of course, the cover illustration of food animals and eggs dancing in a circle is marvelous. haricot of ox-tail, fish pasties, arrowroot sauce for puddings, Scotch haggis without the bag, Scottish white puddings, curried rabbit, gooseberry fool, etc. Mild rubbing to spine ends and corners; smudges to several internal pages, else very good.
