A little book for the 19th c. English cook, first published in 1824, with illustrations and instructions for trussing and carving, as well as methods of curing and drying hams and tongues, how to make condiments, sauces and vinegars, and of course, recipes. There are also charts for marketing and budgeting in the back. The author was the cook for many years at the Thatched-House Tavern. 

Cover design completed faded away, rubbing to spine ends and corners; owners' names (dated 1860 and 1890) to verso of frontis., else good. Charming.
