10x7.25", cloth-backed blue-green boards, paper cover & spine labels, deckled edges. No. 255 of 400 copies signed by the author. N.p.: Privately Printed, 1931.

A surprisingly technical treatise and guide to making red, white, and sparkling wine in Virginia, as well as making non-grape wines like damson and other fruits, berries, flowers and grains - all specific to the state of Virginia, with notes on their historical practices there. A final chapter focuses on Southern mixed drinks like St, Cecilia punch (Charleston), Mississippi punch, Ramos gin fizz, etc.

Insect damage to paper labels on spine and front cover; owner's name to upper corner of front free endpaper (likely that of Colonel William Reese Bettison, a U.S. Army officer who graduated from the United States Military Academy (West Point, Class of 1901). A very good copy of a scarce book.
