Recipes of King and Fishermen (Cláudia Silva Mataloto, Raquel Moreira)
Portuguese Import. Eating is also traveling, and traveling is getting to know the places and the people who inhabit them. Cascais, a destination for kings and fishermen, tourists, Portuguese and foreigners, is a place for people from the mountains and the sea and a unique gastronomic heritage, resulting from the intersection of multiple cultures and traditions. Recipes of Kings and Fishermen, now in English edition, takes us on a guided journey through around eighty recipes with different origins and characteristics, but all with a “flavor” of Cascais.
From the most representative dishes of the gastronomic traditions of this county to the modern reinterpretations of some of these same traditions, we rediscover the importance of fish and shellfish, poultry and game, cakes and dumplings. Indulge in the famous «sand» and «nuts», dishes appreciated by King D. Carlos, or with unique historical episodes, such as that of a Lord of Cascais who allegedly promised Camões some stuffed chickens in exchange for verses.
