(*NEW ARRIVAL*) (Cocktails & Entertaining) Quaglino [Giovanni]. The Complete Hostess

$300.00

Ed. by Charles Graves. Illus. in duo-tone color by Anna K. Zinkeisen. Pictorial white cloth. London: Hamish Hamilton, [1937].

A wonderful and celebratory guide for the hostess of the 1930's., including a significant cocktail chapter. Quaglino was encouraged to offer his advice and recipes by Graves (1899-1971), a noted gastronome and gossip columnist whose adventures with Maugham, Wodehouse, Kipling and George Bernard Shaw included parties at Quaglino's, The Embassy Club, The Savoy, Ciro's, and Cafe de Paris. Quaglino came to London from Northern Italy, where he worked at The Savoy and later at The Sovrani, before opening his own eponymous spot there.

Bookplate of cookbook collector Marshall Blum, and with his rubber stamp to lower fore-edges. Near fine.
