$175.00
/
Color frontis. and illus. with vignettes and engravings. Pictorial white cloth. First Edition. Oakland: Pacific Press, 1899.
Pacific Press was a religious press that published solely vegetarian cookbooks, as it was part and parcel of their beliefs. Recipes for wholesome drinks, food for infants, how to can fruit, rules for dyspeptics, etc., as well as the philosophy behind meatless meals. One section is titled, "How to Become a Vegetarian," while another is "Vegetarianism in London." According to their tenets, “There is religion in a good loaf of bread.” Faint spots and rubbing to covers, rubbing along spine and at ends, else very good.
