(*NEW ARRIVAL*) (Art) David Lance Goines. Guinness. *Signed*
$600.00
/
Poster, 18" x 24", printed in 7 colors. 1 of 100 signed posters, of a complete edition of 206. Berkeley: St. Hieronymous Press, 1973.
Goines' reflection on his choice of image reads, "In the United States we have a rule that prohibits the attribution of any healthful or beneficent aspect to any alcoholic beverage. This puts a spoke in the wheel of Guinness, who's motto, 'Guinness is good for you,' is by that measure illegal. So, what's to do? Say it without saying it. It's the visual pun, a play on images. 'Beer, Sir,' as Samuel Johnson once said, 'is liquid bread.'" DLG 25
Fine - rare as this is one of only 100 signed posters, and only 206 were produced in total.
