When the two chefs, Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken, opened City and Border Grill in Los Angeles in 1982, they were on the cusp of California Cuisine as we know it today. Fried parsnip chips, grilled swordfish, Thai salad, spicy cold soba noodles, shredded brussels sprouts, etc. Very good.
