Charles Tuttle was fundamental in publishing books on Japan after WWII and reintroducing Japanese culture to a wary American public. This book in one of his rare Chinese publications at the time, with recipes from Dolly Chow for velvet chicken with corn, smoked fish, roast shaslick pork, stuffed clams, etc. Chinese characters accompany each recipe title, and there are chapters on table service, ingredients and condiments, dinner parties, table manners, etc.
Chipping to jacket spine ends, jacket a bit soiled and dusty; owner's notes to front pastedown and highlighting to some pages, else good.
