American President Lines. S.S. President Wilson - Maiden Voyage Dinner Menu
$50.00
/
11x8.75", lithograph image by Millard Sheets of (possibly) female Tibetan villagers conversing in front of a straw-roofed hut, mountain in background. At sea en route to San Francisco: June 5, 1948.
Millard Sheets (1907-1989) was one of the earliest of the California Scene Painting artists and helped define the art movement. Orel Pierson captained this maiden voyage of the S.S. President Wilson, and chef Secundino Lopez offered a menu that included fried abalone steak meuniere, poached filet of halibut, sweet Georgia pickles, Mexican kernel corn, and cherry cream pie. A few pencil marks and spots to interior, else near fine and bright.
