(Connecticut) Merchants of Danbury. Danbury Fair Cook Book
$65.00
/
63 pp. Illus. with numerous ads for local businesses. Gray cloth lettered in black. First Edition. New Haven: O.A. Dorman, 1888.
Presented to the patrons of the Danbury Fair by the Merchants of Danbury on Oct. 2, 1888, with recipes like New England Johnny Cake, Newport cake, wild ducks, Boston gingerbread, and other New England fare. The Danbury Fair was first held in 1869, a weekend event, under a borrowed tent. Gaining in popularity, by the time it closed in 1981, it had became a ten-day extravaganza.
Irregular darkening to cloth, some staining to covers, otherwise good, with great local ads.
