(Mexican) Zarela Martinez. Food from My Heart
Illus. Jacket. First Edition. NY: Macmillan, [1992].
Warmly inscribed & SIGNED by Martinez to James & Helen Nassikas on the half-title, and with a newsy hand-written card laid-in, describing her work with Macmillan.
Zarela Martinez was a highly respected Mexican cooking instructor and authority who authored several cookbooks. Jim Nassikas (1927-2019) was a hotelier and gastronome who opened the Stanford Court Hotel in San Francisco in 1972. There, he hosted culinary luminaries like James Beard, Julia Child, and Craig Claiborne. The Nassikas' became close friends with Eileen Yin-Fei Lo, one of the most prominent Chinese food authors in history. Laid-in are a color photograph of the author, 3 signed Christmas cards from Lo to the Nassikas', and an embossed invitation to the book release party for New Cantonese Cooking at the Stanford Court.
