Cecilia Chiang's renowned Mandarin Restaurant was San Francisco's first upscale Chinese restaurant, and gained worldwide fame after columnist Herb Caen sang its praises in the San Francisco Chronicle. This book tells her story, with recipes, of living in China and making her way to America, as well as the cooking skills she brought with her. Ms. Chiang passed away in October of 2020 at the age of 100 in San Francisco; her son started P.F. Chang's restaurant chain.
